Our Integrated Investment Management Account offers traders these advantages:
- Trade stocks, options, futures, forex, bonds, funds and more from the same trading screen. In addition, your transaction history and positions are all reported on a single statement.
- Trade around the world without having to open multiple accounts in different countries.
- Trade securities and futures in a single account. Many brokers require you to create separate non-linked securities and futures trading accounts. IBKR’s Integrated Investment Management Account links your securities and commodities account segments in one account.
- IBKR does not require you to open accounts in multiple currencies.
- For cash accounts, clients can have the necessary amount of cash in any IBKR-supported currency (e.g., a US stock trade can be executed versus a EUR cash balance), and IBKR will coordinate the necessary forex trade in the amount required to settle the trade on your behalf.
- For margin accounts, when you want to trade a product denominated in another currency, a loan is created, which is secured by your deposited currency. If you want to eliminate the loan, you may do so at any time by trading currencies through our IDEAL FX* network or depositing money in another currency. You will find that our currency exchange rates are much better than retail banks or exchange rates offered by credit card companies.
For each IBKR account, you have the flexibility to designate any of 24 currencies1 as your account’s base currency. Your base currency determines the currency of translation for your statements and the currency used to determine margin requirements. In addition, charges related to market data and research, inactivity fees and commissions on currency trades are also charged in your base currency.
